[00:00:20] And now to David to tell you what you can expect in today's episode.

[00:00:29] Learn outline bride. Repeat. That is the way we will kick off the Jonathan marathon. If you like to recently finished Josh Wilson experience, then you'll surely enjoy the Jonathan marathon. Jonathan Kendall is the CEO of virtual worker now and co-founder of lead nurture. Join Jonathan and. As they embark on another journey about copywriting outsourcing and many more here in sales transformation.

[00:00:57] All right. Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. I'm very excited today to have Jonathan Kendall on he's an executive investor, speaker copywriter, author, and avid reader. Jonathan's currently the co-founder and CEO of lead, uh, lead nurture an all in one sales funnels and CRM software. Uh, as well as the executive director of virtual worker now an international outsourcing agency.

[00:01:23] Jonathan, welcome to this. Hey, thanks for having me. I appreciate it. Yeah, man, I've been looking forward to having you on, um, super curious before we get, you know, into the more tactical stuff here, just to learn a little bit more about your story. Uh, we like to say here, give us your sales story. Yeah. I started out when I was young, wanting to be a novelist and that moved into copywriting, which moved into.

[00:01:48] Digital marketing, uh, digital marketing, low ticket products, which turned into high ticket products on the back end. High ticket products requires high ticket sales. The highest end version of high ticket sales in my opinion is, um, in collecting an investor check. So a hundred thousand $200,000 investor check.

[00:02:07] So I've raised over a hundred million dollars, um, from a credited investors for various startup. And then I also, you know, one of my company's lead nurture helps some of the really high ticket masterminds. Um, so $30,000 tickets, $50,000 tickets, a hundred thousand dollars tickets. Um, so, you know, I've built sales teams for that as well and funnels for that.

[00:02:28] Um, and then also both my companies right now are high LTV. Um, so they may not be super expensive right up front, but they're sticky. And so people stick with us for years and years and years. So when they're, when they're signing a contract, you know, our expectation is that it's gonna be a multi hundred thousand dollars contract.

[00:02:49] So I've started with copywriting and eventually, you know, now I'm every, every client that I bring on is some version of a high ticket sale. Interesting. Um, and so how did you get started in copywriting? Uh, I started reading a lot of books. , uh, I have, uh, I, I started with the generic success principles, Tony Robbins, Jim RO you know, the, the meta habits for how to learn anything.

[00:03:17] Then I got really obsessed with learning how to learn. I think that's the most powerful skill how to learn quickly. So, uh, books like, uh, anything from Cal Newport or Barbara Oakley there's, you know, those types of authors are specialized in how to learn quickly. And then I applied that to writing and copywriting and, um, just practiced a lot.

[00:03:40] I have written multiple millions of words. I'm sure. Um, and most of them were not paid, so just repetition, repetition, repetition started on Upwork, like any other freelancer and just kind of kept on, kept on, improving through, through repetition. Wow. Okay. And, uh, is it still like a passion for you? Do you still write a lot?

[00:04:02] Yeah, I write every day for sure. I, I write for myself my own social media. I still am a little particular about, you know, having someone write in my voice. Uh, and then for our, our biggest clients, I still will myself write landing page and email, like backend sequences for our large clients. Especially if we have a joint venture partnership where you know, their success is our success, I'll, I'll get my hands dirty in the mornings and, and still write some copy for sure.

[00:04:34] Yeah, man sounds like, uh, writing for you is like going to the gym, right? You gotta gotta get those writing exercises in. Yeah, I might, I studied philosophy in school and, you know, philosophy is, uh, a lot of writing. So I remember, uh, we would have a. Our, our test at the end of the, the semester would be one sentence, one question on the board, and then we would have two hours to write the answer to some question, um, based on what we learned that semester.

[00:05:06] So philosophy teaches you how to organize your thoughts. And so I, I have this, I, I believe that most of copywriting is actually outlining. So the, the writing, the specific words is less important as starting with the right outline. And the same thing goes for a sales script, right? Like, you know, you gotta build a little bit of rapport, get into discovery, figure out what their real pain problem pain point is.

[00:05:35] Uh, figure out what their vision is. People have different ways of approaching this, but you know, the standard outline of any high ticket sales and then transition into your, the features of your product. And then answer their objections and then close and then probably answer their objections for another month, you know, before they end up buying over and over again.

[00:05:54] And then, you know, finally close the deal. Right. So I, I think of the same thing for copywriting. So everything that I write, I'd never start with a, a blank page. It's always, I know what objection, I'm gonna answer. I know what, uh, you know, which one of the Robert Chaldini laws and persuasion I'm gonna use.

[00:06:11] I know which cognitive biases I'm gonna try to try to use. I know how long the, the piece of copy's gonna be. I know, uh, the call to action. Of course, that's the first thing. So I, and if you have all of those bullet points, it's a lot easier, um, to, to write the copy. So I, you know, I suggest whether it. Yeah.

[00:06:32] In, in sales or, or in copywriting focus more on the outline and the, the words will write themselves. Yeah. I mean, I think today sellers, you know, have to have skills like writing that, you know, weren't necessarily as important before, uh, right. With creating original content, um, writing, you know, emails, maybe their own scripts.

[00:06:54] Uh, whatever the case is, right. Is, um, and so what you're saying here is like, you know, building out sort of those bullet points or that, you know, um, uh, sort of outline of what you're trying to accomplish with the writing, uh, is a good framework to follow because then you're just filling in the blanks in between.

[00:07:14] Thanks for tuning in to today's episode. If you're enjoying the show, drop us a review on your favorite podcast. And we hope that you'll tune in again tomorrow as we are here for you every day, weekends included to help you transform the way you sell.
