[00:00:00] In the world of sales, you either sink or swim or breakthrough to the next level. My name's Colin Mitchell. And this is sales transformation, a new kind of sales show designed to bring you through the epic life-changing moments of elite sellers. So you can experience your own sales transformation.

[00:00:29] Hey, before we start today's episode, I wanted to bring you in on the best kept secret in B2B sales. If you're serious about social selling and your only strategy is cold DMS through LinkedIn, you're missing the mark big time. Learn how I fully manage revenue generating podcasts can change your life and your pipeline@salescast.com.

[00:00:55] All right. Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. Today's going to be a solo episode where I'm going to talk about one of my favorite topics and that is selling with video. I love using video at all stages of the sales process, particularly. Particularly for prospecting, um, and top of funnel activities, but I also love using video all throughout the sales stages, uh, to keep customers or prospects rather engaged.

[00:01:24] Um, but I want to give you four tips, uh, or four common traps rather to avoid when selling with video selling the video is so powerful. I don't know why more people don't use. This as part of their, um, sales tool belt, I really don't know, but there's so many benefits. People would rather watch a video than read a boring email.

[00:01:48] Um, and it's just a better way to engage in standout. Um, so here's four common traps that you can avoid with starting to sell a video, or maybe your son, a video, and maybe some of these will resonate with you. So I'm gonna tell you what these are and what you can do to avoid these traps. Uh, so number one is spending too much time on research.

[00:02:07] It's so easy. To get down the rabbit hole and view somebody's social and then their other social and then their website. And then maybe they have a podcast or a YouTube channel, their content. And before, you know, it, you've spent 30 times, 30 minutes on research for one video, for somebody who you don't even know, if what you have to say is even relevant to them or they care.

[00:02:29] So, um, you want to batch your videos so that you're in this space. And the one thing that you can do is just set yourself up. Maybe you allow yourself, I don't know, three minutes, five minutes, 10 minutes. I don't want to tell you what the right time is for you. Um, but decide what that is. And maybe you have a self quota of, you know, 10 custom videos a day or 20 custom videos a day, and you're going to do those in X amount of time.

[00:02:53] So do the backwards math and figure out what's appropriate to do research and the recorded video. If you're using video for prospect and you really want to keep those videos, like 30 seconds a minute at the most, depending on. Um, so if you want to avoid this trap of going down the rabbit hole and spend too much time on research, just do yourself a favor and set a timer and stick to that.

[00:03:15] Whatever you find out in that timeframe is what you're going to use to then craft your video. Now, the second thing is really important. This is a common, common trap not being relevant. So find something in your research that is relevant. It's a trick. Right. That is something that can be triggered for you to reach out the reason that you are reaching out.

[00:03:38] Don't be reaching out just to reach out, have a good reason to be reaching out and be relevant. This is really important. If you want to have success with a video selling strategy. All right. The third one is. Giving them a good reason to chat with you. Okay. So the next step, obviously, if you're using this in prospecting is for them to set a meeting.

[00:03:59] Okay. And you need to give them a good reason. So, you know, wanting to grab a virtual coffee or network or chat or be friends, those are not necessarily a good reason. People are busy. Okay. So people don't want to feel left out. People like to learn things. So think about what it is that you can teach them, you know, what can you, what sort of hook can you put in there to peak their interest, to feeling like if I get on a CA if I get on a call, I'm going to learn something I don't know, from this particular person that sent me this video.

[00:04:32] So think about that. Okay. Have a good reason and be able to provide some value and let them know what that is. And then that's going to give them. You know, the ability, uh, to actually be interested in having a conversation with you. All right. The next thing is, is do not send a calendar link. I know it's lazy.

[00:04:56] Just don't do it. Okay. Because it comes off as being too salesy. And you don't want to come off as being too salesy, allow them to raise their hand and say yes, that I would like to have me. So I always like to close out every video, uh, when using it specifically for prospecting is, Hey, if this interesting to you, or if you'd like to learn more about this thing, let me know, and I can send over a link and we can schedule a time to chat.

[00:05:21] Okay. So I like to close it out that way, because then you're going to get much more qualified people. It's not going to come off as salesy. You're going to get better conversions. Uh, there's many reasons why you don't send a calendar link, allow them to raise their hand and reach out to you and reply and ask for that calendar link, because these are much more motivated people, um, that they, you know, you know, that they found something interesting and they're much likely, much more likely to do that rather than you just sending them a link.

[00:05:46] Um, and so that's it, these are some common traps that you can avoid, uh, with a solution that. I hope that you enjoyed this particular episode. This is a topic that I love talking about.
