Today's going to be a short episode where I want to talk about a little bit about why sales professionals should always be investing in their sales education. Okay, this is really important. There's never a point in sales or you have arrived and you have figured it out.

[00:01:18] Things are changing. New technologies are coming out. Uh, buyers are buying differently. Um, there's all, there's a ton of reasons. Of why your sales education should never start now. The problem is a lot of sellers started in an organization and most of the training is focused and built around product knowledge.

[00:01:41] And that is not enough. To be successful in sales. Now there's a lot of organizations that do it right. And provide a lot of resources or even give you a budget for education. If you happen to work at a place like that, then that is great. But not everybody is that fortunate. But the number one thing that you need to realize as a seller is you have got to take.

[00:02:04] Ownership for advancing in your sales career. Okay. It is not the job of the organization that you currently resent that you currently represent to do that for you. Okay. It's on you. And there's lots of ways that you can do. With or without a budget. Okay. But first I want to sort of dig into some of the benefits, right?

[00:02:30] So you're going to improve your sales preparation. What that means is you're going to be more prepared when prospecting or running discovery calls or running demos or closing or negotiating deals, you're going to feel more prepared in those moments. Now. You can read books, you can take courses, you can follow people on social.

[00:02:54] You can listen to podcasts. All of that stuff is great, so that you're going to show up prepared, but most of the learning is going to actually happen in doing the. Activities. Okay. So whatever activity or part of the sales process that you may be struggled with most, you need to lean into that until you improve and get more comfortable and you can feel more prepared by tapping into some of these resources.

[00:03:20] Okay. The other thing that's going to start to happen is you're going to be more successful in your sales activity. You're going to win more deals. You're going to book more meetings. Uh, you're going to increase your. Um, cold email or a cold email replies. I mean, the more you invest in learning and getting better at your craft, uh, you're gonna win more often.

[00:03:47] Okay. Also the thing is, is, is you're going to enjoy it more. It's not going to feel so much like work if you're getting more positive results, because you're putting the time in to learn, become better at your craft as a seller. Okay. Um, you, you, you know, basically whatever role you want. As a seller, this is important.

[00:04:18] Now, if you don't have a budget, well, then you can listen to podcasts. You can read blogs, you can follow specific people on social media. They're giving away lots of really valuable information. And it costs you. Absolutely nothing but the willingness and the effort and your time. Okay. And if you're maybe a more established seller, um, then you know, there's very valuable courses and people in workshops and masterclasses and things like that, that you can go take, uh, on your own and maybe you pay for it out of your own pocket.

[00:04:59] Some of these places will even provide you a certificate. Which you can take back and potentially get reimbursed for as well. Um, but the key takeaway is here is never stopped learning and take ownership for advancing in your sales crew. Um, you're the one that needs to own that. And you're responsible to make sure that you get where you want to go.

[00:05:22] That's not on anybody else. And if you're not achieving your goals or you're not advancing in your career, then it's probably because you're not taking enough time to better yourself to master your craft and continue yourself.
