QUOTES

Collin: "Sellers essentially have to be marketers to a certain extent. You hear people talking about investing in your personal brand. A lot of the most successful sellers understand this and they know that creating original content and being a creator on whatever platforms that their customers are hanging out on is essential to success in sales today."

Collin: "If you guest on podcasts regularly, all you gotta do is show up, give a good message, and typically, that podcast is going to give you content to share. You can even request the raw files to create additional content, whether it's text or video, or you could chop it up."

[00:00:00] In the world of sales, you either sink or swim or breakthrough to the next level. My name's Colin Mitchell. And this is sales transformation, a new kind of sales show designed to bring you through the epic life-changing moments of elite sellers. So you can experience your own sales transformation.

[00:00:24] All right. Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. And today I want to talk about how, as a seller, you can start to think about being a creator. Now, if you're in sales, you probably know that creating content and using social. Is more important than ever as a seller sellers, uh, essentially have to be marketers to a certain extent.

[00:00:56] Uh, you hear people talking about investing in your personal brand. I mean, a lot of the most successful sellers understand this and that they know that creating original. And being a creator on whatever platforms that their customers are hanging out on, uh, is, is essential to success in sales today. I specifically use LinkedIn.

[00:01:20] I would say 90% of my focus is on LinkedIn. I do a little bit on Instagram, a little bit on Twitter, not so much on Facebook. Um, but LinkedIn is vast majority of my efforts as far as content and building relationships. So I want to give you a few simple ways as a seller that you can get started. With creating original content.

[00:01:45] Okay. I'm going to give the example of LinkedIn because that's what I have the most experience with. Um, if you're looking for X, you know, suggestions or tips for other platforms, you'll have to find somewhere else because I just don't use them enough or invest enough time to really tell you how you should be using those platforms.

[00:02:02] Um, you know, content, the benefit of. Is that it can help build trust with your clients, your prospects, it can generate leads. LinkedIn has become the number one lead source for, uh, sales cast. Uh, and it can help you build meaningful relationships all just from creating content on social platforms. And I know it can be difficult to know where to start.

[00:02:29] It can also be difficult to keep. A consistent content strategy, or even just. Continuously. Um, and so here's a few things that you can do to get started. So, um, you know, if you are in sales and let's say you conduct calls on zoom, maybe you record those. Maybe you use an awesome tool like wing man. Um, uh, or you just maybe record them.

[00:02:55] Well, something you can. As you, if you ha, if you have an awesome tool like wing, man, you have the transcription of the conversation in there. If you don't, and you're just recording these calls, you can run them through something like de script and you can get the transcriptions of these calls. And so maybe, you know, in discovery calls, in demos in all of these calls that you have with clients.

[00:03:19] Now you can take this as knowledge and information to create stories. Um, you don't need to be specific. And call out the specific customer, because in some cases it could piss them off. Um, but you can use. Activity that you're already doing to feel creativity, to post original content and you can do it as text.

[00:03:42] You can do it as video, whatever you're most comfortable with. The biggest thing is just to be consistent with creating content. Okay. So maybe you have a customer hero journey, uh, or example. Uh, or a problem that they talk about in all of this is going to be relevant to the people that you best serve. So this is a great way to get started with creating original content as a seller.

[00:04:05] Now here's two other ones which are clearly a little biased, but are my personal favorites. One is to guest on podcasts regularly. Now, if you guest on podcasts regularly, all you gotta do is show up. Give a good message. And typically that podcaster is going to give you content to share. Uh, and then you can even request the raw files to create additional content, whether it's text, uh, or a video, or you can chop it up.

[00:04:34] Um, there's tons of tools that you can use, like D script, uh, or headliner or Zeb title. These are all things that are easy to use. They're not that fancy, but they're good enough to create some content for yourself. And the key there is you're repurposing stuff from an activity that you're already doing.

[00:04:52] Um, and then the last example that I'll give you is to obviously start your own podcast. Uh, if you start your own podcast, Going to have more content than you even know what to do with. Um, and so that's a great solution. Uh, there's many other reasons to start a podcast as well. Uh, but it can be a great source of having endless amounts of content as a seller.

[00:05:18] So I hope that this was helpful. Uh, if anybody is thinking about guesting or getting started, Come join us in the sales cast community. It's absolutely free.
