[00:00:24] All right. Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. Today's going to be a solo episode, and I'm going to give you some tips that worked for me to have the proper mindset for sales. A lot of sellers struggle with mental health and emotional instability because. Sales is a stressful gig. Uh, we all have quotas and goals and activities that we need to hit, and we deal with a lot of rejection and a lot of uncertainty and a lot of ups and downs.
[00:00:53] And so it's very important to, uh, Do what you need to [00:00:59] do and to enable good mental health as a seller, um, it's important that you take time to invest in yourself while you're, uh, out of the office, uh, personally, so that you can be in a better mindset professionally when you're in your sales role. So.
[00:01:17] Here's some things that I'm going to break down. These are things that I've been doing for quite some time, and that have helped me tremendously. They might feel overwhelming, or it might feel like a lot. Don't feel like you need to do all of them. The biggest thing here is to test them, see what ones feel right and find what gets you to the desired goal that you're looking for.
[00:01:38] Um, so for me, the most important thing, and this is, you know, most people talk about like the routine that they do in the morning. But I actually believe it starts the night before. So here's three things that are essential to me having a successful night before the morning routine starts. Number one, uh, for me, I spend time with my family.[00:01:58]
[00:01:58] That's a piece that's very important for me to be in a. Mental health state. Okay. So spending time with my kids and my wife has something that's very important to me. Maybe you have boyfriend, girlfriend, significant other, uh, family, friends, whatever, that social element, that's an important piece. And you know, a lot of people need to take that thing seriously because, uh, being in sales can be a, like a lone Wolf sometimes.
[00:02:21] So getting that, uh, Whatever that is for you, making sure that you're making it a priority for me, it's spending time with my family. And then the second thing is eating healthy. So if you don't eat healthy, then it's going to affect your sleep and your energy and all these other things. Uh, that are going to contribute to not being in the best version of yourself and your role.
[00:02:45] So eating good, healthy food for me, uh, I am a vegetarian and, uh, I'm fortunate enough to have an amazing wife that cooks delicious food for me all the time. So it's pretty much an [00:02:57] easy. Uh, one for me to be consistent with, but you know, if you don't cook, uh, you know, there's lots of options to get meal prep or whatever, or there's lots of healthy ways to just, you know, um, batch prep, cook, whatever it is, make sure that you get it putting good, healthy non-processed.
[00:03:14] Into your body, uh, to get proper sleep and have proper energy to show up as the best version of yourself. All right. So number three, uh, the night before proper sleep, I recommend six plus hours. I typically get about seven hours of sleep on average. Uh, I like to go to bed early and then wake up early and then that when I wake up early, That is when the morning routine starts.
[00:03:40] So I've been really trying to implement a journaling practice, which is helpful, but it's been one that's been a little bit tougher for me to integrate on a consistent basis, but, uh, lots of sellers that I've talked to have found a journaling process or practice that works well for [00:03:56] them. And if you fall off of these things, don't be hard on yourself.
[00:04:00] That is key to all of this. The second thing in the morning that, uh, is important for me is spending some time with my wife. And we also typically meditate together. If you don't have a significant other doing this by yourself is totally fine. Uh, an app that I would recommend is 10% happier. I've tried all the meditation apps out there.
[00:04:20] You can download a free one, um, or there's more premium ones like Headspace or 10% happier. I've been very. The 10% happier by Dan Harris love that app. And I use it every day. All right. So now starting your day off with some wins. And for me, I like to get my exercise out of the way in the morning. Uh, you know, and whatever that is for you, whether you're on your Peloton or running or swimming or going to the gym, whatever it is, have a consistent schedule.
[00:04:49] Of getting that out of the way, because if you have a long day, when you're feeling stressed out, it's a little bit harder to be [00:04:55] motivated to do that and do it at the end of the day, it's easier to talk yourself out of it. And I found early in the morning, I do a five 30 workout. I go swim in a masters.
[00:05:04] Group and, uh, you know, I just show up a lot of times, I don't feel like doing it. I don't want to do it, but I show up and I have less time to talk myself out of, uh, not showing up and doing that. And then that leads me into starting my day. And, uh, I have time blocked out in the morning. And if you didn't check out the episode on Tuesday, you'll want to check that out about structuring your day.
[00:05:29] So this is kind of on the tail end of that. Um, you could go back and listen to that. So we just dropped on Tuesday about structuring your day, but this is more about what you can do to take care of your. Personally so that you can show up as the best version of yourself and invest in your own, you know, emotional stability and mental health.
