[00:00:00] In the world of sales, you either sink or swim or breakthrough to the next level. My name's Colin Mitchell. And this is sales transformation, a new kind of sales show designed to bring you through the epic life-changing moments of elite sellers. So you can experience your own sales transformation.

[00:00:25] Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. Today's going to be a solo episode where I'm going to talk about how you can start to get better results in sales by letting go. W what does that mean? Well, when I started early in my sales career, I used to really have a hard time because I would tie my self worth to my number.

[00:00:53] And so. That resulted in a lot of emotional [00:00:59] ups and downs. And if I didn't hit my number or I didn't hit, uh, the amount of meetings that I sat out to sit on set on a particular day, I felt not good enough. I felt less than, and this is a huge problem for a lot of sellers, specifically, sellers that are fairly new.

[00:01:21] And are still trying to navigate the emotional ups and downs and mental health, um, instability that can occur in sales when you have that sort of mindset. So there's a lot of things that we do in sales, where we're looking for a particular outcome, whether that's making a cold call. And, uh, hoping to get a conversation going in the intention of booking a meeting, whether that is sending out messages on LinkedIn and connection requests, uh, whether that is sending out emails and looking for replies.

[00:01:57] These [00:01:58] are all of the common activities that sellers are doing, and we can take it even further and sending a proposal and waiting for it to get signed off, uh, following up on emails and getting ghosted, all of these things. Sellers have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. What you have to realize as a seller is you've got to go into these activities, these parts of the job with out the expectation of getting that outcome that you're looking for, because it can make you extremely.

[00:02:31] Anxious, uh, you can start to feel less than, or, um, things like that that can really affect your, your mental health personally, and also really affect your performance in a big way as well. The best way that you're going to perform at the highest level is if you're showing up as the best version of yourself.

[00:02:51] And so there are things that you can do to help this. And what you [00:02:57] want to do is you want to only focus. On the things that you can control, because whether a prospect replies to an email signs, the proposal accepts your connection requests, positive replies in a positive way to your cold email. Those are things that you cannot control once you've done those things.

[00:03:20] There is not a lot that you can do to get the outcome that you're looking for. And if you tie yourself worth to those positive outcomes, you're really going to have a hard time. And you're going to create a lot of stress and anxiety for yourself and not enjoy sales. So not everybody needs to work with you.

[00:03:40] Not everybody is your ideal prospect. And. You can perform a lot better and finding the people that are are, if you can get a handle on these types of things. So focus on what you can control. And let's talk about a few of those things. [00:03:56] What you can control is how many calls. Emails you sent, you can control what you say in those.

[00:04:05] You can control, you know, how personalized, uh, or how genuine or how authentic your emails are, rather than just using templates and hoping that you get some bites here and there. Um, you can control these things. You can control what you say and how you say it on a cold call. These are the things that you want to focus your energy on, so you can fine tune those to get those better results.

[00:04:28] But staying out of focusing on the outcomes because it can be extremely stressful. So what I want to challenge you to do here is let go, let go of seeking those outcomes. Like even just the example of making a cold call. If you go into the call with the goal and mindset of setting a meeting, when you don't set a meeting, you're going to be very disappointed.

[00:04:54] But if [00:04:55] you go into the cold call with the intention of just having some conversations, meeting some new people, having some fun, and in that. You might find some people that want to learn more, that may be, have a problem that you can help solve. So how you look at these things, the mindset, the intention, and letting go are going to be huge in you being more successful in sales by let it go.
