[00:00:25] All right. Welcome to another episode of sales transformation. Today's going to be a solo episode where I'm going to be talking about having your own sales experience. Yes. What the heck does that mean? All right. So these days there's so many opinions that get posted on. Social media in podcasts in books, blogs, courses, you name it.

[00:00:52] There's tons of ways to consume information and content about things that you may [00:00:59] be. Or shouldn't do in your sales role. Now, some of it's good. Some of it's maybe not so good, but you need to be the judge to decide what is relevant to you and what is not. And my good friend, Jeff, posted a maybe unpopular opinion about something that I agreed with.

[00:01:20] And, uh, you know, the thing that it made me think about was sellers really need to have their own. Sales experience. And what that means is when you get information, go there and run, go on and run your own experiment. If somebody says you should never send video in the first touch don't show. Agree with that, have your own experience, run your own test and see if that's relevant.

[00:01:49] Uh, I personally, with what I do and who I target sending video in the first touch actually works extremely well for me [00:01:58] now. I don't know what maybe you do or what industry you're in or what you're selling, what you're offering, what you're saying in the video. There's just too many variables for me to say that that's 1000% going to work for.

[00:02:11] So what I'm challenging sellers to do is just to go out there and have their own experience, run experiments, and test different things. Just because somebody says something doesn't mean that it's going to be totally relevant to what you do. You know? Uh, here's another example. People say that, you know, uh, having a permission-based opener in your cold call, uh, should be the way to do it.

[00:02:34] And I do agree with that in most cases, but there might be scenarios where a different approach could actually. Work better. So when you hear new things or when you hear people say to not do things. Make sure that you have your own experience before you make a decision on whether you should start or stop doing [00:02:57] any particular things in your sales role, because there's just too many variables.

[00:03:02] People don't know your industry. Who you're targeting, what you're offering, all of these different things that matter on whether something is going to work or not work in your role. So have fun with it. Try new things, always be open-minded and willing to learn and test things. Some things might not work.

[00:03:25] And if they don't at least, you know, and you might learn something along the way. It'll lead you to something that works better in your specific role. All right. So there it is. Make sure you have your own sales experience in the things that you do to drive revenue in your role.
