QUOTES

00:17 "Your mindset is essential to performance, it's going to shape everything that you do and when you go into your cold-calling block or interaction with a prospect or running a demo or discovering with a negative mindset or not a positive attitude; you're not gonna get good results."

00:43 "You can have a growth mindset, you can have a fixed mindset. Now a fixed mindset typically looks like 'ugh this sucks, this isn't fair, the leads are horrible, i hate my manager.' Those are the types of thoughts that you're gonna have if you're operating in a fixed mindset. Typically this means that you think the situation is unfair and you do not have the ability to change it."

01:09 "Now let's look at the other side which is a growth mindset, this is where you feel like you can lean. You're open to getting feedback when your prospects, your manager gives you feedback on your performance or how you ran a particular sales call, it encourages you. Because you now have a level of awareness that you can change it."

[00:00:00] In the world of sales, you either sink or swim or breakthrough to the next level. My name's Colin Mitchell, and this is sales transformation, a new kind of sales show designed to bring you through the epic life-changing moments of elite sellers. So you can experience your own sales transformation.

[00:00:24] All right, welcome to another episode of sales transformation. And today is going to be a solo episode where we're going to dig into how to foster a great. Mindset for sales. Now, why is a growth mindset so important in sales? Because your mindset is essential to your performance. It's going to shape everything that you do.

[00:00:47] And when you go into your cold calling block or a interaction with a prospect or running a demo or a discovery, With an negative mindset or [00:00:59] not a positive attitude, you're not going to get good results. So first let's kind of look at the two different types of mindsets that you can have. You can have a growth mindset and you can have a fixed mindset.

[00:01:09] Now, a fixed mindset typically looks like, uh, this sucks, this isn't fair. The leads are horrible. I hate my manager. Those are the type of thoughts that you're going to have. If you're operating with a fixed mindset, typically this means that you think the situation is unfair and you do not have the ability to change.

[00:01:32] Okay. Now let's look at the other side, which is a growth mindset. This is where you feel like you can learn. You're open to getting feedback. When your prospects, when your manager gives you feedback on your performance or how you ran a particular sales call. It encourages you because you now have a level of awareness that you can change it.

[00:01:55] Uh, you feel like that you can get better, that you can [00:01:58] improve, you know, have a path towards growing. That's kinda the key difference between a fixed mindset and somebody operating with a growth mindset. Okay. Now this is essential to all of your sales activities, all of your prospecting activities, whether it's cold calling or cold emailing.

[00:02:18] Somebody who's operating with a growth mindset around their prospecting activities might ask a colleague to review their calls. Might spend a little bit more time listening to the recordings, looking for opportunities to improve and get better at their cold calling skills. So it might, you know, somebody with a growth mindset.

[00:02:40] Ask a colleague or a manager or a friend to review their cold emails that they're sending out in their sequences or their prospects. They say messages that they're sending out on LinkedIn. So you, when you have a growth mindset, you're going to be constantly open to getting better and [00:02:57] looking for feedback.

[00:02:57] Now, this is something that I like to do in can be a little bit scary for people, but actually ask your prospect. For feedback. So maybe a prospect that decides not to go with you, uh, and they've let you know that they went another direction or they decided not to change anything, which is, uh, you know, sticking with the status quo.

[00:03:19] You can go back to that prospect and say, Hey, you know, I totally respect your decision. I'm just curious if you could help me out a little bit here, you know, uh, is there anything that I could have done better or is there any reason why I didn't earn your trust and that will open up a dialogue and it's very low pressure.

[00:03:35] People like to help people. So in a lot of cases, people will be willing to give you feedback. Um, and that will give you opportunity of how you maybe could have approached that situation, uh, in a different way in the future. So I hope this is helpful. Um, definitely. Want to try to foster a growth mindset.

[00:03:53] Now, if you're operating with a fixed mindset, [00:03:56] that's okay. And if you now are aware of it, You can now change it. I don't think that you're stuck with a fixed mindset. If you become more open to feedback, if you look for opportunities to and learn to grow, you can foster a growth mindset, which is going to be essential to you performing at the highest level in your sales role.
